I have gel nails, and I hope to get gel toe nails, but I wonder... could I take them off and still have decent natural nails?Will gel nails/toe nails ruin the actual nail?
well gel nails in particular aren't as bad as getting flat out acrylics, they do damage your nail bed. they will make your nails really thin and not as heathly, it is possible to get them back to normal but it takes a long time. it took me probably 5 month to get mine back to normal, but if you take care of your nails and get them takin off the right way then you should be fine. it wont turn out as bad. so if you want to go right ahead, just giving you heads up about what could happen.Will gel nails/toe nails ruin the actual nail?
It really depends on the type of work that the nail tech does. If he/she is careful to not over-file the natural nail then the damage will be minimal. But if you go to a budget salon and they use a drill to file your natural nail, then yes, it will ruin your nails.
long term use does weaken your natural nail, but you can bring them back to strength with a bit of work.
ew gel toenails! that sounds so gross! yes it ruins your nails they file them down so the nail will stick
