Gels and acrylics are pretty much the same thing. They look the same and are applied the exact same way too. They use this stinky liquid and some powder stuff to make both of them. I haven't had solar nails but I heard they are really a lot better than acrylic or gel nails. I would think they would be great nails for a 13 year old. You will pay more for them, but they will look so much better, and last longer too.
When I was younger I got acrylic nails. I don't anymore. Too expensive and it makes them weak. I found this site that compares the two.
